Here are Just a few of the Services we Provide:
Scheduled Maintenance Services (30k, 60k, 90k, etc.)
Most manufacturers recommend a major service every 30k, 60k, and 90k to maintain your vehicles service warranty. We offer all of the manufacturers specified services, to keep your vehicle running strong. Manufacturers recommend that your vehicle get a thorough inspection during the 30, 60, 90 thousand mile service, to make sure nothing else on your vehicle needs servicing. When you bring your vehicle in for a major service we give it a thorough inspection of all the major components, and a few of the minor components. Manufacturers usually recommend replacement of one or more components during this service. These components could include but are not limited by, air filter, brake fluid, coolant engine oil, oil filter and fuel filter.
If your vehicle still has its manual you can look at the manufacturer specified services. Or if you have any questions, our knowledgeable staff will help you determine what services are due on your vehicle.
Timing Belt Replacement
Over the last 30 years in the interest of making vehicle engines more efficient to operate, many vehicle manufacturers have done away with the traditional Timing Chain and designed their engines to run on a Timing Belt. Unlike a ‘fan belt’ or a traditional accessory drive belt, a Timing Belt is inside of your engine and usually requires a substantial amount of time and expertise to replace. Timing belts keep your engine’s Crankshaft and Camshaft(s) in ‘time’ and are critical to engine operation and performance.
Most manufacturers recommend Timing Belt replacement between 60,000 and 90,000 miles. Don’t go past the recommended interval or you may have major problems! Depending on the make & model of your vehicle, in the event of Timing Belt breakage, the best case scenario would be getting stranded, while the worst case scenario would be major engine damage. This depends on whether or not your vehicle has what’s referred to as an ‘Interference Engine’.
If you have questions about your vehicle’s timing belt, or whether it has a timing belt or not, an Interference Engine or not, or if you’re not sure of your vehicle’s Timing Belt Replacement Interval, feel free to call us at (530) 477-5712.
Minor and Major Engine Repair
At Foothill Car Care, our goal is to keep your car running at its maximum potential. At times your vehicle may only need a minor engine service to keep it running in tip top condition. Sometimes your engine may require major repairs. Whether it is a minor engine repair like an ignition service, or a major repair like a cylinder head gasket, our knowledgeable ASE certified technicians will utilize over one hundred years of combined experience to fix your car.
We offer complimentary inspections for every vehicle that comes into our shop; to help keep you informed on minor and major repairs that your vehicle may need. We strongly recommend regular maintenance to keep you vehicle from requiring major engine work.
The cooling system is one of the most important parts of your vehicle. We have come a long way from the thermosyphoning cooling system in the early Ford model T’s. Our cooling systems are now more efficient. The modern day cooling system works by circulating coolant via a coolant pump through the engine block to keep it from overheating.
The coolant starts in the radiator and gets cooled by the air flowing through the radiator. The coolant then passes through the hoses into coolant canals built into the engine block. All of the cooling components work in unison to keep the engine from over heating and causing major engine damage. In order to keep your cooling system working properly we recommend a coolant flush every 30,000 miles. A major benefit of flushing your coolant regularly is it keeps your heater core from plugging up and causing your heater to stop working.
Also our technicians can inspect for leaks and any damage your radiator may have incurred. We also recommend replacing your thermostat regularly. If your vehicle is due for its regular coolant flush or if it’s over heating we have the knowledge and equipment to get your cooling system working properly.
Does your vehicle have a drivability problem? First we need to describe what a drivability problem is. You’re driving down the road and all of the sudden your vehicle loses power. As it’s losing power it gets harder and harder to drive. Then your vehicle dies on you. If this describes your situation you have one type of many drivability problems.
So you get your vehicle towed into the shop. The first thing our service advisors will do is get the story on your vehicle. The service advisor will write down your story and/or have you fill out a questionnaire. The service advisor will then give the technician the story. It’s important for the technician to have any information regarding your vehicle and its symptoms. The service advisor will get information such as:
- Have you noticed your vehicle acting funny at all lately?
- Is your vehicle hard to start in the morning?
- Have you heard any strange noises recently?
These questions will assist the technician in diagnosing your vehicle quickly and accurately. Our ASE trained technicians will start with a road test to verify the vehicles concern. Once the technician hears and or feels the concern he takes the vehicle into the shop and begins the analysis of the vehicle.
The technician looks into the area where he thinks the problem may be. Having years and years of experience our technicians have seen and heard almost every type of vehicle problem there is.
In order to assist the customer with piece of mind we have an 18 month 18,000 mile warranty on parts and labor. Our warranty is backed by a nation-wide, 12 month, 12000 mile, Napa Auto Care Warranty. Electrical Systems Diagnosis
Vehicles of today are being developed for more than just getting from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’. Now vehicles not only get you from ‘A’ to ‘B’ but they tell you how to get there via G.P.S. systems. Today’s vehicles are becoming more and more comfortable with electronic adjustable struts, climate control that senses interior temperature and automatically adjusts to your preference, back up sensors with cameras on the rear bumper, heated seats, and more.
This creates that much more potential for things to go wrong. With all of these added benefits and comfort comes elaborate wiring and computers that can control every aspect of the vehicle. Lube and Filter Services
At Foothill Car Care, we strongly believe in preventative maintenance to keep your vehicle running smoothly and trouble free. A very important preventative maintenance is the oil service. Changing your fluid regularly keeps your engine’s moving parts lubricated. Keeping your parts lubricated reduces heat from friction, and keeps the engine running smoothly.
Without good oil circulating through your engine you are running the risk of causing major damage to your engine. Keeping fresh oil in your engine also reduces sludge build up. Having to much sludge in your engine robs your vehicle of getting the best gas mileage possible. Regular oil services help keep your vehicle running for a long time. When you come in to Foothill Car Care for an oil service, we not only flush your oil and replace your filter we offer a complimentary vehicle inspection. We offer the complimentary vehicle inspection to keep you informed of the mechanical condition of your vehicle.
